What is SINOT?
Law 139 is a requirement for companies with more than two employees. Its objective is to pay benefits, thus offering additional protection to those who have lost their income due to temporary incapacity caused by injury, illness, non-work-related accident, or a car accident.
This insurance covers all workers including agricultural ones. However, it is voluntary for employees of state, federal, municipal governments, and non-profit institutions.

This law provides the following benefits:
Disability
It will depend on the insured wages in the basic year of the claim. The minimum benefit is $12.00 weekly and the maximum benefit is $113.00 in the industrial phase. The benefit will be paid for the duration of the disability or up to a maximum of 26 weeks in any period of 52 consecutive natural weeks.
Dismemberment
Dismemberment benefits ranging from $2,000.00 to $4,000.00 depending on the loss. For example: loss of sight, feet, hands, arms, and legs.
Death
Death benefit, $4,000.00 prorated among the direct dependents of the deceased worker, plus any benefit owed to them.
